| Details | Air Marshal MSD Wollen writes: Piggott was killed after a mid-air collision with Busty (Geoff) Wilks ; the latter recovered his aircraft at HAL airfield, from where they had taken off. They were flying Prentice aircraft. The 'close' formation (3 a/c) were flying over Bangalore at relatively low altitude (around 1000 m AGL). Piggott and Wilks were the number 2 and 3 in the formation. Piggott's aircraft crashed in open grounds of a school, off Queens Road, which leads to B'lore Cantt. Rly Station, 400 metres away. I visited the site of the crash ; and later the Hosur Cemetry, where Piggott was interred. | ||
