CHENNAI: A trainer IAF aircraft crash-landed after it developed a technical snag about 25 km from here on Wednesday morning, but its two trainee pilots escaped with minor injuries, defence sources said.
The aircraft crash-landed near a pond-like area at Thoraipakkam, sources said. A rescue helicopter from the IAF base at suburban Tambaram was rushed to the spot and brought the injured officers - Sq Ldr Vaid and Sq Ldr Nandekar - to the base, the sources added.
Express News Service : Chennai, June 18: An Indian Air Force aircraft crash-landed in Pallikaranai marsh, near here, minutes after taking off from the Tambaram Air Force station around noon today. The two pilots, Squadron Leaders R.S. Nandedkar and Raj Vaid, who sustained injuries in the mishap, were rescued by the villagers and rushed to the Tambaram Air Force Hospital with the help of an IAF rescue helicopter.
They were out of danger, according to an official press release. A court of inquiry has been ordered into the incident. |
