RARE INDIAN HINDUSTAN HT-2 TRAINER AIRCRAFT FOR SALE

Postby ZSOSS » 21 Nov 06, 11:14 pm

Jagan,
Thanks for allowing me on this forum !!

As you already know, I have two Indian Hindustan HT-2 Trainer Aircraft (Ex-Ghana Airforce) designed and built during the 1950’s at my disposal. The airframes are complete with minor storage damage plus two Sirius Major Series III, 155Hp engines but without propellers and instruments. Will need complete re-riveting and inspection due to salt water air corrosion. 166 Examples were built and commissioned to the Indian Air Force. It is believed that there are fewer than 27 of these extremely rare aircraft are still in existence worldwide with none in flying condition. These Aircraft are available from South Africa. Serious interested buyers can pm me. I will send photo's later.

PS- Why is It not Possible for enthusiast's in India To Buy and restore HT-2 on display at various parks and millitary fields? I Mean It is part of your heritage and History! The HT-2's do not have great historical value in the West but have great rarity value?

I think the problems are that 1. General and vintage aviation in india is quite small compared with UK or US or the west. 2. There is an element of paper-dom that one encounters if they have to get these park ornaments and gate guardians. In most cases the IAF 'donated' these birds on conditions that the upkeep is done by the agencies and they are not allowed to resell or scrap them - that doesnt keep some organisations from doign that ofcourse.

Thanks for the interesting pics, I will post them on the main page in a couple of days.

regards

Dear ZSOSS

I am interested in IAF Aircraft. Is it possible to view these aircraft? I am not a buyer unfortunately. Planning to visit SA in September.

There should be many - The IAF Museum one is the closest and is currently under restoration efforts to airworthyness.

There are a number of Lycoming powered versions that can be restored to the air as well. One with HAL, a few with private colleges in INdia etc.

Incidentally this clip will be of interest to you all - the clsest a HT-2 is currently to fying status
