Sherwood college in the hill station of Naini Tal is home to a MiG-21FL [C1153] that was arranged by an alumni - Air Marshal Sumit Mukerji (Retd).  

Nainital is a popular hill station in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and headquarters of Nainital district in the Kumaon foothills of the outer Himalayas. Situated at an altitude of 2,084 metres (6,837 ft) above sea level, Nainital is set in a valley containing a pear-shaped lake, approximately two miles in circumference, and surrounded by mountains

Nainital is home to Sherwood College, which is a co-educational residential school in Nainital, Uttarakhand, India, serving grades 3 – 12. Sherwood was founded in July 1869. The school is situated on a large, sprawling campus on the Ayarpata hill (one among the seven hills that boundary Nainital Lake.

In 2011, A phased-out MiG-21 FL was installed in the college. The installation of the plane is an endeavour of the IAF to attract students to its fold. According to the school authorities, the plane had been promised by the then Air Marshal Sumit Mukherjee who was the chief guest at the Founder’s Day celebrations in 2009. He is an ex-student of the 1966 batch of the school. The plane was assembled by the end of April and unveiled on the Founder’s Day.

The MiG-21, an FL variant with serial C1153 was in due course installed over the scoreboard at the playground in the school. It is displayed with undercarraige retraced and with a bank. 

The aircraft was formerly noted as part of the MOFTU in 1998.
