MIG-23BN [SM258] at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies in Dehradun.

The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) campus is located in the sylvan surroundings of the Pondha valley at the foothills of the Himalayas in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The UPES was established in the year 2003 through UPES Act, 2003 of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand.

At some point in time in recent years, the UPES was bestowed some miltiary artifacts by the armed forces.  The Indian army presented a TATRA truck, while the IAF erected a MiG-23BN serial number SM258 on the campus. The aircraft arrived by road from Halwara Air Force Station in mid 2010 and was put up for display by end of the year.

Another view of SM258 – MiG-23BN at UPES. A new building seemed to have risen in the background over the  years, and the aircraft itself painted in a strange shade of blue.

A Tumansky R-29-300 turbo jet engine durly arrived from AFS Kanpur and is now a training aid in the laboratory.
